A while ago I was overcomplicating the process I had in creating my landscapes until I thought back to drawing mountains as a kid. Back then triangles were all I needed to convey the idea of a mountain, and that really hasn’t changed much to this day. It makes me feel connected to think that deep down, were hardwired, to some degree, to recognize the natural world around us, even through basic shapes. This simple diamond-shaped design utilizes negative space in place of the sky to give an impression of the mountains and hills.
This rug was my first venture into the idea of using simple imagery to connect to an individual’s basics and instinctual feelings about a space or environment. My hope is that this rug will bring this concept into one’s space in a unique and interesting way.
